How to Use Google Trends?

What is a Google trend?
Google Trends is a free tool by Google
and one of the best tools for SEO Research. It analyzes terms or queries
related to the search term in counties or the selected country across several
regions and languages. It uses graphs to compare the search term and trends
between two or more terms. You can compare multiple keywords with Google Trends
up to 5 groups of terms at one time and up to 25 terms in each group.
This powerful tool lets you get an
insight into the most viral search trends since the beginning of their data
collection, namely 2004. This web facility was, however, launched back in 2006
as Google's understanding of for Search, which was merged into Google Trends in 2012.
How to use Google trends?
- Open Google Trends.
- Search for a term like "Digital Marketing."
- Inside the Topics box, click + Add term.
- Add another search term, like "SEO Training."
So, if you want to discover at what time of the year people start Comparing for “Digital Marketing” with "SEO Training", you can simply type this in the search term and set the filters for:
1. Location: worldwide or in a
certain country.
2. Time: past hour, past 4
hours, past day, past 7 days, past 30 days, past 90 days, past 12 months, past
5 years, 2004-present, or a custom time range.
3. Category: Arts &
Entertainment, Autos & Vehicles, Beauty & Fitness, Computer and
Electronics etc.
4. Web Search:
Image Search, News Search, Google Shopping, YouTube Search.

Let’s take a look at the specific features:
• Interest over time - The number of searches graphed by time. You can easily customize a timeframe, from years to minutes.
• Interest by region - Comparison of wherever searches originate from. Geographic areas are organized by proportion, so smaller countries may score higher than larger countries that technically produce more searches. The 0-100 search interest value is relative compared to all searches globally.
• Related topics - "User searching for your queries or keyword also searched for these topics."
• Related queries - "Users searching for your Search term also searched for these queries." A more specific change of "related topics," this one showing specific keyword searches instead of general topics
• Top vs. Rising - "Top" refers to the most popular related topics or queries of all time. "Rising" refers to the most recent increases
• Breakout - If Google Trends considers a topic or keyword “Breakout,” it means it is currently receiving a “tremendous increase” in searches. If you see “Breakout” instead of a percentage, it means that the search term grew by more than 5000%.

we can see below in the graphic from Google Trends that compares search traffic over the past 5 years in India for the terms "Digital Marketing" with "SEO Training". "Digital Marketing" is the blue line. That other, red line that you can see that’s the indexed search traffic for "SEO Training"
To be sure, search traffic for digital marketing is climbing, and it should be noticed that these are indexed traffic figures in comparison to one another ( SEO Training ) with the number 100 representing the peak search interest for either term
Compared Breakdown By City:
The below Graph shows the Compared Breakdown by City for Digital Marketing, here blue color represents Digital marketing and the red one is SEO training. The result shows the top cities of India for the past 5 years for digital marketing. Noida, Gurgaon, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Ghaziabad are the top 5 cities where people are 100 % interested in digital marketing than SEO training.we can see percentages calculated out of the searches for Navi Mumbai is 100 % interested in Digital marketing and 0% in SEO Training.
In the below graph, the result shows the top cities of India for SEO Training. Chandigarh, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru are the top 5 cities where people are more interested in SEO training. Here we can see percentages calculated out of the searches for Bengaluru is interested in 98% in Digital Marketing and 2% in SEO Training.

Here we can see the search interest value in Maharashtra is 83 for digital marketing during the specified time frame ie past 5 years.
Users searching for digital Marketing also searched for these queries. we can see the related queries for digital marketing is "Digital marketing Course by Google" and many more.
Here we can see the search interest value in Punjab is 98 for SEO Training during the specified time frame ie past 5 years.
Users searching for SEO Training also searched for these queries. we can see the related queries for SEO Training is "SEO Discovery" and many more.
*Note- Search Interest Values are calculated on a scale from 0 to 100, where 100 is the location with the most popularity as a part of total searches in that location, a value of 50 indicates a location which is half as popular. A value of 0 indicates a location where there was not enough data for this search term.
Here "Rising" means the most presently will growth in searches and breakout means that it's presently receiving a "tremendous growth" in searches.
